Getting around

Everything on this machine is reachable two ways: a key, and a menu. If you remember neither, press SUPER + ALT + space and read.

SUPER is the key with the Windows logo on it. On a Mac keyboard it is Command.

The two you actually need

SUPER + K is generated from the same list the compositor is configured from, so it cannot fall out of date. If a shortcut is not on that sheet, it is not bound.

Coming from a Mac

Three things are deliberately not the Linux default, because the Linux default fights thirty years of muscle memory:

SUPER + space opens the launcher. It is what a hand trained on Spotlight reaches for.
SUPER + C / X / V copy, cut and paste — in the terminal too. No Ctrl + Shift + C exception to remember. The terminal keeps Ctrl + C for interrupting a program: with text selected it copies, with nothing selected it still sends the interrupt.
Two fingers on the trackpad is a right click. The bottom-corner click zone still works, but on this chassis it sits under your palm.

Gestures

Four, on the trackpad:

Three fingers sideways is macOS's own gesture for the same thing, deliberately.

The compositor tiles: new windows take a share of the screen rather than landing on top of each other. You almost never need the mouse to arrange them.

Focus follows the click, not the pointer

A window takes the keyboard when you click it, not when the pointer crosses it. This is worth saying out loud because the compositor's own default is the opposite, and on a wide screen the pointer passes over two or three windows on its way anywhere — which makes focus feel like it moves on its own.

When something is stuck

SUPER + ALT + space → Restart something. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio, the bar and the notification daemon can each be restarted on their own. That fixes most of what people reboot for.
